CVG Facing Possible Closure Thanks To Poor Financial Results
Computer and Video Games, better known as CVG, faces closure according to a statement released by publisher Future. The publication began a 45-day consultation period on 14 May and executives are looking at a number of possibilities that include shutting down or selling the brand. “We are currently exploring various options around how to evolve the CVG brand in particular and the market leading Future Games portfolio in general, in order to keep successfully meeting the needs of our consumers.” CVG began life as a monthly magazine in 1981, becoming one of the first video game magazines. It found an important niche in covering all computers and giving small game developers exposure to a wide market. It is also responsible for the annual Golden Joystick Awards. The prestigious awards are the second oldest in the world and feature winners voted for by the general public.
