Supergirl’s Long Calista-Less Drought Coming To An End
Cat Grant, merciless CEO of CatCo Media and frenemy of Kara Danvers, was one of the best things about Supergirl Season One. Then the series moved to Vancouver to save money, and Grant’s actress Calista Flockhart didn’t want to follow. Cat would appear in the first two episodes of Season Two, then disappear. The series has had its moments since, but it’s never felt the same. Attempts to fill the void left by Flockhart have not worked. I’m speaking specifically of Kara’s new space boyfriend Mon-El, a bland plank of plywood we have had shoved down our throats in every minute of every episode for the last few months. The writers have developed an unexplainable fixation with Mon-El and Kara often takes a backseat on her own show to him. He’s not interesting, he’s not appealing, and he’s killing everything. If only someone would come to this poor show’s rescue… But wait–what’s that, up in the sky? It’s Ally McBeal aged twenty years! Entertainment Weekly broke the story this morning
