David Ayer Was “Gun Shy” Going Into Bright
A very sad trend in film and TV as of late is the idea that “reviews are everything”. For if you have a terrible review, or series of reviews, or aggregate score on something like Rotten Tomatoes, then your project is a failure. That’s wrong on many ways, but it is something weighs on certain directors. One of which was David Ayer, who was the director behind the financially successful, but critically panned, Suicide Squad. Then, he got hired to make a Netflix original movie called Bright. Bright was billed as something big, and Ayer wanted to make sure that the same thing that happened to Suicide Squad didn’t happen to it.
