24 Entertainment launched its battle royale Naraka: Bladepoint last summer on PC. If you’re familiar with the battle royale genre, then it shouldn’t surprise you how the game works: sixty players are deposited into an open area dusted with pagodas (it’s set in ancient China) and it’s every warrior for themselves. In Naraka, though, you have special abilities to help you including parkour skills for chasing down enemies, and a grappling hook for when you’re being chased yourself. And if you don’t mind being the center of attention, you can gain the power to transform into a giant Vajra Warrior and simply step on everybody else! You better run once you turn back to normal though. A console version is in the works, but only the PS5 is confirmed to be getting it. We haven’t heard much about 24’s future plans, but the dry spell of info is almost over. The company has announced Naraka Fest, a lineup of updates that will be starting December 12. After an open beta test last June, 24 Entertainment’s battle royale is almost ready to go. Naraka: Bladepoint launches August 12 on PC, but console gamers have been wondering if they’ll get their own version. Today we can confirm it’s true — 24 is also working on Naraka for consoles. Battle Royale Games are everywhere ever since Fortnite and multiplayer Minecraft became hits. So Many titles sprouted like Mushrooms with different varieties and flavors. We have games like   Valorant, Apex Legends, PubG,Firestorm and Dying Light: Bad Blood. This reminds me of the 90s when fighting games became a hit. It caused an oversaturation of Fighting Games that it almost destroyed the genre. It will take the creation of Street Fighter IV for the Fighting Game Genre to recover. Currently, EA’s hit battle royale game Apex Legends is only available on three platforms: Playstation 4, XBox One and sort of PC. By “sort of” we mean you have to use EA’s proprietary Origin launcher to play it. Things are about to open up, though, in a big way. EA and developer Respawn confirmed a Switch version of Apex Legends is in the works. The announcement was made during the EA Play Live broadcast, where several other projects were revealed including a new Skate game and It Takes Two, a co-op from the creator of A Way Out. How will the Switch version handle? Will the graphics take a hit? We have no idea, as Reapawn showed no video or screenshots, but they did reveal one interesting feature: crossplay with all other versions. However way you answer the Call of Duty, you’ve got some new content to enjoy right now as Activision launches Season 3 in both Modern Warfare and its battle royale spinoff Warzone. First, in Modern Warfare, three new 6v6 multiplayer maps have been added: Talsik Backlot, Hovec Sawmill, and Aniyar Incursion. There are also two new weapons (the SK5 marksman rifle and the Renetti 9 mm sidearm), a new operator (Alex), and some new vehicle skins. Talsik Backlot In the middle of the Urzikstan desert lies an urban city with a major construction project taking place at its center. With its citizens long evacuated, combat takes place from door-to-door as teams fight for control of the various overlooks and buildings. Hovec Sawmill A sleepy farming village is under peril, as its main sawmill building has caught fire. Call Of Duty Warzone is free. Call of Duty Modern Warfare is not. This much we know, but our modern times live by no rules. This weekend only, anyone with a Warzone account can try out the multiplayer in Modern Warfare for free. The free access began this morning at 10 AM Pacific / 1 PM Eastern, when a playlist called “Stocked Up/Locked Down” appeared in the Warzone lobby. It gives you access to two maps: Atlas Superstore and Shoot House, and a wealth of modes to use them in: Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint, Kill Confirmed, and Headquarters. Team Deathmatch: Straightforward, but deadly. Teams of six go toe-to-toe to collect the most kills. The manner of death doesn’t matter, so shoot, launch, and toss grenades to your hearts’ content. It didn’t take long for Call of Duty Warzone to land its first major public esports event. Twitch Rivals: Warzone Streamer Showdown is a new competition where the biggest Twitch names from all over the world throw down, with a prize pool of $250,000 (or the pounds/Euros equivalent) at stake. There will be two tournaments held over two days, and unfortunately, the first of these has already passed. Call of Duty Warzone has launched and is now available for download on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Inspired by Modern Warfare, the Free-to-Play Battle Royale game will allow players to fight with up to 150 other players. Warzone takes place in a massive combat arena, set in the city of Verdansk. All fighting takes place across two distinct epic modes of play, Battle Royale and Plunder. The goal of Battle Royale is to be the last squad standing. Your team composition will consist of three at launch. In Call of Duty Warzone’s Battle Royale mode, redeployment Mechanics will include self-revive kits, which can be bought with in-match currency. They can also be looted. Squad Buybacks will let you buy a teammate’s redeployment from Buy Stations or The Gulag. The Gulag is a 1v1 deathmatch which can only occur after the first elimination. Last November Apex Legends introduced Duo Mode: a new way to play matches that paired you with one other person, as opposed to the usual two. It’s possible in other games (like Apex’s direct competition over at Epic) but here it was sadly a limited time event….Duo Mode disappeared after a week. But now it’s back! We wish we could say “forever,” but it’s another week-length attraction. Duo Mode was re-implemented today in Apex Legends and will last until February 18. The notion is to tie into Valentine’s Day by encouraging you to play with your sweetie, assuming they’re into battle royale. The event is officially called “Valentine’s Day Rendezvous” and covers more than just a return mode. Respawn is about to spice up the world of Apex Legends in a big way with a two-week event called the Grand Soirée. Put on your fanciest skins and parachute into wild new modes like a third-person camera (available only on January 18) and a map overrun with Dummies (on January 26). During the Grand Soirée, you can earn more points and greater rewards than usual, as well as buy certain skins and cosmetics at a discount.
