Now for some news that’s not so groovy. Bruce Campbell delivered a career-defining performance in 1981’s The Evil Dead and its sequels, successfully marrying horror and comedy through the unhinged, wisecracking, chainsaw-limbed Ash. Campbell made Ash one of the most beloved horror movie characters of the slasher era, if not all time, and though he’s put on a few pounds since, he was welcomed back with open arms when Starz decided to make an Evil Dead TV series.
Ash vs Evil Dead
Despite it not coming out until February next year, Ash Vs Evil Dead appeared in force at New York Comic Con to show off glimpses of the season and talk about major plot points. Of the major ones will be the inclusion of a daughter for Ash named Brandy, a daughter he didn’t know he had. Also, Ash’s father will come back in ghost form. Star Bruce Campbell noted that this season will change a lot of things, and really dive into the continuity of the universe:
Barely into the release of season 02, Ash Vs. Evil Dead has already been given the green light to get a third season. What started out as a fan desire has now become a full franchise.
In the first season of Ash Vs. Evil Dead, the titular character was actually forbidden (behind the scenes) to reference his journey in Army of Darkness.
Starz Media has just dropped a new red band trailer for Ash vs. Evil Dead’s second season. The trailer has been ruled as too gory and edgy for Comic-Con, but you can check it out online at the above link. A new Comic-Con poster for the show was also unveiled, and you can check out that image below.
Starz Media provided the first teaser look at the upcoming second season for Ash vs. Evil Dead this week. You can check out the new video, plus the first image still for the new season below.
Starz has officially announced this week that actors Lee Majors and Ted Raimi are joining the cast of the hit series Ash vs Evil Dead for the show’s second season. Lee Majors will portray the role of Brock Williams, the father of Ash! Ted Raimi has been cast in the role of Ash’s childhood best friend, Chet Kaminski. The second season is set to debut on Starz later this year.
The Evil Dead franchise is enjoying a nice surge as of late. Starz recently premiered a new episode TV series Ash vs. Evil Dead starring the amazing Bruce Campbell as the reluctant Deadite-smashing hero, Ashley “Ash’ Williams. The show was already picked up a second season. On top of that, Dynamite Entertainment looks to ride that wave of momentum with a new comic book series based on the franchise, Army of Darkness: Furious Road.
Ash vs Evil Dead has not even premiered on TV yet, but it’s already been confirmed to get a second season. Starz officially announced today that the premium network is greenlighting a second season of the series ahead of its October 31 broadcast premiere. It is not uncommon for Starz to already greenlight sophomore seasons of its new TV shows ahead of their respective premieres or early into their first seasons. The news will likely be welcome to fans who will watch the show knowing a second season is already set.
