There is a free app on iOS and Android that combines two age-old games of wits, strategy, composure and luck: Chess and Poker. They call it CHOKER…and even though that was a word already, with potentially lurid connotations, we suppose it’s better than the alternative, “PESS.”
Not everyone believes aliens have contacted Earth. Far fewer people believe there can be such a thing as a video game based on Ancient Aliens, the often-mocked A&E “historical documentary” program. Thanks to the Final Fantasy XIV Companion App, you can take the game with you — sort of. It’s impossible to play the processor-heavy full MMO on a mobile device, but you can perform extraneous activities like chat with friends, schedule in-game events, sell things in the game, or manage your inventory items. Starting today you’ll be able to do more than just that, though not for free.

The mobile RPG Mobius Final Fantasy is now two years old! And to commemorate its birthday, Square is introducing a ton of new content to the game themed around Final Fantasy X. A new chapter in Mobius’s FFX storyline and new Ultimate Hero Summons with Tidus have been added, plus new quests and bonuses aplenty.

Last year, around this time, Square-Enix put out a Kingdom Hearts mobile game called Kingdom Hearts Mobile Adventure. Okay, that wasn’t really the title, and you knew that because it wasn’t confusing enough. The actual title was KINGDOM HEARTS Unchained χ.
When you think about it, once the right elements were combined, it was inevitable. You take the unstoppable, incurable mania of this nation’s young girls for all things Frozen, and an app store that’s heavily regulated yet allows ripoffs of anything to slip through, and what do you get? You get an unlicensed app game where you have to give a pregnant Anna a Caeserean section and deliver her baby.
While my husband and I were hanging out with some friends, the discussion drifted towards our respective cats. They had mentioned one of their cats absolutely loving an app on their iPad and whipped it out to demonstrate. Sure enough, the cat went nuts for it. Staring intently and pouncing.
