Get Ready For Netflix’s Onimusha Anime
Since Netflix has had so much success with turning the Castlevania series into an anime, it’s only natural they would start looking toward other Japanese video games to animate…and coming soon is one such project, based on Capcom’s Onimusha series. Picking Onimusha is a bit of a curveball. Anyone who remembers the PS2 era of video games will remember this series fondly, but Capcom hasn’t really done anything with it since then, so anyone who entered the market from PS3 onward won’t recognize the property at all. The most exposure it has seen lately, besides this, is a remaster of the original Onimusha game that came out on the PS4 in 2019. So with that being said, the show will have to stand on its own two legs to prove itself. The story revolves around Miyamoto Musashi, a samurai from Japan’s Edo period who dons the Oni Gauntlet and takes on the task of slaying all the Genma, a race of evil demons, while collecting their souls in the gauntlet.
