My first exposure to the work of my latest interview subject, Sandahl Bergman, came when WPIX, New York’s Movie Station, regularly played Conan The Barbarian throughout the 80s and 90s. Sandahl’s work as the brave warrior Valeria was very memorable. As I grew older, I would see more of Sandahl’s work in projects as diverse as All That Jazz, Xanadu and Stewardess School. I’d been hoping to interview Sandahl for a long time, but I never had any luck until this year.
All That Jazz
I was first introduced to the work of my latest interview subject, Deborah Geffner, when I saw an unlikely duo of movies for the first time in the 00s, Bob Fosse’s magnum opus All That Jazz and the Cannon exploitation classic Exterminator 2. When I came across the trailer for Exterminator 2 on one of the Drive-In Delirium Blu-Rays put out by Australia’s Umbrella Entertainment, I noticed Ms. Geffner in the trailer, and I decided to reach out to her about an interview. With the help of her manager, Sharon Holleran, we spoke back in May, and now the interview is live. I hope you all enjoy getting to know this versatile talent.
My first exposure to my next interview subject came via the 1988 movie Bloodsport. Leah Ayres played Janice Kent, the movie’s female lead. She made an impression on me with her beauty and her talent, and as I delved further into her career, I became impressed not only by her work on-screen, but her work off-screen as well, helping out children and families. I met Leah at Chiller Theatre in October of 2017, and I knew she would make for a fascinating interview subject. We spoke on Tuesday, November 21st, and I hope you all enjoy getting to know her.
