Syrinscape’s Year Of Atmosphere Begins This Month
You may have just heard of Syrinscape, the Australian company that specializes in creating atmospheric sound and music for tabletop RPG games….but they’ve actually been around for a solid decade. And to celebrate their tenth anniversary, they’re declaring this the Year of Atmosphere, and marking it with a new series of super-guides packed with tips, tools and tricks. A new guide will be released every three months.
The Year of Atmosphere kicks off today with The Art of Tension, a comprehensive guide to how Syrinscape can put players on the edge of their seats with ambience, stings and effects, music and more. The Year of Atmosphere will continue with The Hero’s Journey and creating that epic adventure soundtrack to accompany players as they save the world; AtmosFEAR will ring in the Halloween season with all the best sounds for scary moments in your horror-themed games and finally, The Magic of the Season will set the stage for playing the otherworldly, mystical and spiritual.
Benjamin Loomes, CEO of Syrinscape, says his company started when he programmed the original player for his personal use — a sound tool to use for his own RPG games. “Ten years in, it’s been amazing to watch Game Masters incorporate it into their own games and I’m beyond humbled at the 250,000 downloads, the stellar partners who have trusted us to make the official sounds of their fantastic games and the best community of users on the planet.”
The Syerinscape software is free to download and use for 30 days, along with two free sound packs you can keep even if you choose not to pay the monthly fee. Said fee is $10 per month. A quarter million people have downloaded the service so far.
