Super Star Wars Set for PS4 and Vita Re-Release
Per the PlayStation Blog, a classic Star Wars video game is getting an enhanced re-release for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita this week with Super Star Wars. The game will be available as a digital download through the PlayStation Network starting this week.
Super Star Wars was a fantastic series of side-scroller action-adventure games based on the classic Star Wars Original Trilogy in 1990s. There was one game for each movie: A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. The games allowed you to play as multiple characters, including Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Princess Leia and Chewbacca, and you played through the movies and across the Star Wars Universe. When you were Luke Skywalker, as the games progressed, you could use his lightsaber and various Jedi powers. The cut scenes were great for the games and way ahead of their time.
In terms of enhanced features, the re-release will included leaderboards, PlayStation Trophies, updated display and controller options. The game will also have new save features. There is no word yet on re-releases for Super Empire Strikes and Super Return of the Jedi. Hopefully, those will get re-released for PS4 and Vita next.
