Nintendo has announced that Super Smash Bros. for Wii U has sold over 490,000 copies in its first three days in the United States. The publisher revealed that the 490,000 units refers to both physical and digital copies.
This also marks the fastest selling game on the Wii U in the United States, surpassing Mario Kart 8. Worldwide, Mario Kart 8 sold 1.2 million copies in its first three days. Super Smash Bros. for Wii U still has to launch in Japan on December 6, and it’s already available in Europe, but Nintendo has yet to reveal the sales.
Super Smash Bros. for 3DS, which launched in September in Japan and October in the rest of the world, sold over 1 million copies worldwide. It looks like the Wii U version will cross the one million mark as well. We’ll update you when sales for other regions are released.
