Styx: Shards of Darkness Gets an Accolades Trailer
Cyanide Studio and Focus Home Interactive dropped a new trailer today, promoting all the various accolades and glowing review tidbits the game has been getting since it launched earlier this month. You can check out the new trailer below.
The new trailer also features a lot clips of Styx talking and making jokes. The game is a sequel to Styx: Master of Shadows and was developed by Cyanide. Now, going by the Metacritic scores for Styx, it has a 75 rating for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but only 74 for the Windows PC version. So, while most of the reviews for the game are good to positive, it doesn’t seem to be getting any great game of the year praise. Based on looking at some of the individual reviews and scores from other sites, the game seems to have done OK and is above average, but not a groundbreaking, revolutionary game or a new classic. However, the good news is that the sequel seems to be getting better reviews overall than the first game. So for Cyanide, hopefully that bodes well for the studio to produce another sequel to the Styx franchise.
It will be interesting to see if these overall positive reviews plus some decent sales will be enough to push the game toward another iteration. There doesn’t seem to be any sales data out yet for Shards of Darkness thus far. So it’s hard to gauge how well the game is selling right now.
Styx: Shards of Darkness is available now. The game launches on March 14 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.
