Step Inside A Villain’s Mind In Stranger Things VR
We warned you Netflix’s Stranger Things Day event wouldn’t produce any significant announcements this year, and we were right. The biggest revelation that came out of it was the reveal of the title for Season 5, Episode 1: “The Crawl.” The Duffers reveal these titles early because they know it doesn’t help you much. When the title for Season 4, Episode 1 (“The Hellfire Club”) was revealed, everybody thought “hey, that’s the name of a league of villains in X-Men! It must be related to that!” It was definitely not. Your theories this time will also be wrong.
Instead, the biggest announcements were about video games. Netflix has their own video game service that no one knows about. If you subscribe to Netflix, you already have access and don’t know it, because they don’t bother to tell you. Yeah, it doesn’t make sense to us either. But it’s a mobile service and you can only play the games through an app. Some are related to Netflix shows and some aren’t. It kinda sucks that Netflix is doing this because it means that a series with great video game potential (Stranger Things) is going to be squandered from this point forward on shallow mobile stuff.
whether it’s battling a demo or solving a mystery, get ready for adventures through Hawkins with the gang in Stranger Things: Puzzle Tales!!

But there’s a loophole! Netflix isn’t interested in the VR market, so if someone wants to release a ST-themed VR game outside of their bubble, they can do so! Developer Tender Claws is taking up that offer. The action/horror title “Stranger Things VR” was revealed yesterday. The graphics could…use some work.
Uh….what? Is this supposed to be a Demogorgon? It looks like Erica drew it in crayon.
Why is she fighting me? I’m on HER side!
There IS an explanation for that one: the entire game takes place from the perspective of Vecna, so no, El wouldn’t like you too much. Playing as the black widow enthusiast and child murderer Henry Creel, you’re trapped in the Upside Down and plotting your revenge on humanity. Soon you’ll escape and rule these pathetic mortals, if that pesky girl won’t stop closing your portals all the time. In the meantime the game will reveal exactly what Vecna was doing during those seasons when the writers hadn’t come up with him yet. Was HE the one possessing Billy? Perhaps the game will retcon that.
Maybe it will also answer what Vecna eats in a dimension where nothing looks digestible. This is either a blue Demogorgon from far away or a salamander. Who knows.
Stranger Things VR will be made available for all VR platforms this winter.
