When the iconic protocol droid, C-3PO, made his return in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, he had a new red arm attachment. He even physically made note of it. However, the story was never told. A recent LEGO Star Wars animated short even makes jokes about C-3PO talking about his red arm, but he never gets around to revealing what happened. Marvel Comics officially announced this week that the story of C-3PO’s red arm will finally be told in the pages of Star Wars Special: C-3PO No. 1. You can check out the the first images for the comic in the gallery below (click on the thumbnails to see the full-size images).
This comic will reveal the truth behind how C-3PO lost his golden arm and how he got a new red one. It’s nice that there is a story behind the red arm issue for C-3PO, and Marvel Comics will finally let that story be told. In the scheme of the movies, it’s probably too insignificant to address. So this seems like an idea that’s tailor-made to flesh out for the Star Wars comics. The first issue of the comic is set to hit stores next month. It will be written by James Robinson and feature artwork by Tony Harris.
