Star Wars: The Force Awakens Is At $100 Million In Pre-Sales and Climbing
As if Star Wars: The Force Awakens needs any more hype, or belief that it will be the biggest box office movie opening of all time, topping Jurassic World from last year, Variety reports that advanced ticket sales for The Force Awakens has hit $100 million, and it’s still going.
What’s important to note is this, this is advanced ticket sales, as in people going to website to purchase tickets to ensure that they are able to view the movie when it comes out. Add to that, the tickets that will only be sold in theaters, and IMAX, across the country, and you have the set for Star Wars: The Force Awakens to break nearly every opening box office record in history. Variety believes, based on analysis, that’ll open at $210 million it’s opening weekend, but it could potentially go much higher that if this continues.
The movie itself was reportedly made for around $200 million, so if that opening holds to analysis, Disney/Lucasfilm will make back their money pretty darn quick, furthermore, it’ll go a long way towards the $4 billion dollars that Disney used to buy Lucasfilm a while back.
