Square Enix Was The Hitman Series To Continue
Square Enix has revealed that they see a future for Hitman, with the publisher eager to find new partners to work on developing the property further. Speaking in a financial briefing document today, the company reiterated its commitment to trying to keep this title and others in the pipeline.
“Because the firm is engaged in the development of Hitman and other renowned titles, we are negotiating with prospective external investors capable of ensuring that these titles carry on,” said Square Enix president Yosuke Matsuda.
The fate of the Hitman franchise was put into doubt earlier in May when the publisher confirmed that they were no longer going to be working with developer IO Interactive – the team behind the series. Square Enix did confirm that they were looking for new investors for the studio so that it could stay in business.
