Spider-Man Confirmed to Appear in Captain America: Civil War
This may be the worst kept secret in the world, but we now have true, undeniable, irrefutable confirmation that Spider-Man (who was recast with Tom Holland playing the role) will appear in the upcoming Captain America: Civil War sequel.
Why was this the worst kept secret? Because since the deal between Sony and Marvel was announced, and the rights revealed to allow Marvel to have Spider-Man in their films, it wasn’t too hard of a guess as to which upcoming Marvel film would feature him. The easy guess was Captain America: Civil War. On the topic, Kevin Fiege chatted with The Hollywood Reporter and noted his joy about the arrival:
“Well, we’re producing it for Sony. It’s exciting, and we’re treating it like we treat all of our films. To try to make the best version now of Spider-Man and a version of Spider-Man that inhabits this universe that we’ve created. We’re in lockstep with [Sony Motion Picture Group chairman] Tom Rothman and [producer] Amy Pascal at every turn.”
Here’s hoping for the beginning of a beautiful (and long) movie career for this form of Spider-Man. The new version of the character portrayed by Tom Holland will appear in Captain America: Civil War due out on May 6, 2016. The new solo Spider-Man film is due out on July 28, 2017.
