Super Smash Bros Ultimate, like the previous two Smash releases, will be fully compatible with amiibo figures. If you’ve been slow to collect them, there’s a way to catch up…if you can manage it. Turns out the Japanese version of the game will have a special edition containing 63 amiibo inside. That isn’t every compatible amiibo, but it’s close.
ROLL CALL: Mario, Donkey Kong, Link, Samus, Yoshi, Kirby, Fox, Pikachu, Luigi, Ness, Captain Falcon, Jigglypuff, Peach, Bowser, Ice Climbers, Sheik, Zelda, Dr. Mario, Marth, Roy, Ganondorf, Mewtwo, Mr. Game And Watch, Meta Knight, Pit, Corrin, Zero Suit Samus, Wario, Charizard, Diddy Kong, Lucas, Sonic, King Dedede, Captain Olimar, Lucario, ROB, Toon Link, Wii Fit Trainer, and….more than that, I’m done for now.
The package even contains amiibo that won’t be released for several months, like Piranha Plant and King K. Rool. This set is available exclusively through Amazon Japan. This is a key component of their sinister plot to take over the world, as theorized by Beth Elderkin because she just saw a Doctor Who episode with similar themes.
But it’s worse than you think: just fifty copies will be made of this set. ONLY FIFTY. Think about how hard it is to obtain Nintendo-branded products that have much larger print runs. This is a Nintendo World Championships Cartridge level of scarcity. With the exception of the box, however, there’s nothing in this set that can’t be acquired through normal means. Not that this will placate any rabid collectors out there.
Also in the box is a hanging scroll decoration of the Battlefield stage. There is no mention of a price, but you won’t be able to buy one anyway.
