Ubisoft has announced that South Park: The Stick of Truth will be delayed until March 4th 2014 citing reasons that the game required “major overhaul” since they acquired the IP from THQ in January.
Originally announced in December 2011, Stick of Truth has had a rocky development process after multiple delays and having its publisher THQ shutdown. Ubisoft picked up the IP and intended the game to be released in early December.
Ubisoft North America’s president Laurent Detoc released the following statement:
“Within three weeks after acquiring the game, we sadly realized we had to turn this thing upside down if we hoped to deliver the experience everybody wanted. It’s been such a major overhaul to get to the point where we are that we couldn’t let it go, even if that meant missing December.”
While the delay does not bode well for South Park fans, here’s a trailer to tide you over until 2014.
South Park: The Stick of Truth will be released on March 4th 2014 for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
