Sophie Turner Talks Upcoming Role as Jean Grey in X-Men: Apocalypse
With the “reset” via X-Men: First Class, with the saga going back to the origins of the X-Men, and Days of Future Past “rewriting” history as the X-Men know it, many a fan wondered if we’d finally get the chance to see Scott Summers, Jean Grey, and Ororo Monroe arrive at the school for the first time. Well, we’re getting it with X-Men: Apocalypse. And one of the three, in this case Sophie Turner who will play Jean Grey, talked with Comic Book Resources about what it was like to get the role, and how faithful it is to the character.
“Just like feasting my eyes upon [X-Men: Apocalypse’s] script was insane. And I mean, I just think the fact that it’s such an iconic character and so well loved in the comics and stuff that it’s very exciting to be able to take it on,” Turner said. “Famke Janssen’s portrayed Jean so well, so beautifully, and it’s nice to kind of — although I’m ‘young her,’ it’s nice to have my own take on it as well and interpret this character, this action superhero the way that I kind of want to.”
Oh, and don’t worry, she’s read up a bit on her role.
“I’ve done a bit of research, yeah. I mean, every X-Men movie that’s ever been released, yeah and, like TV X-Men stuff, I’ve seen it all, yeah.”
Turner sounds excited and ready to make Jean Grey shine in the upcoming movie. Are you ready for Apocalypse? It releases May 27th, 2016.
