Sony’s Big Playstation 5 Presentation Now Scheduled For June 11
Had things gone as originally planned, we might know a lot more about the Playstation 5 by now, but Sony had to delay their big online presentation due to the murder of George Floyd and the protests surrounding it. It’s perfectly understandable that it didn’t feel appropriate. It has a new date now….June 11, at the same time of day.
Jim Ryan, president of Sony Interactive Entertainment Studios, first spoke last month about the presentation in a blog post. “The games coming to PS5 represent the best in the industry from innovative studios that span the globe, both larger and smaller, those newer and those more established, all have been hard at work developing games that will showcase the potential of the hardware,” he said.
Mr. Ryan confirmed Sony’s announcement stream will last for a little over an hour and be packed with announcements. “A lack of physical events has given us an amazing opportunity to think differently and bring you on this journey with us, and hopefully, closer than ever before. This is part of our series of PS5 updates and, rest assured, after next week’s showcase, we will still have much to share with you.”
You can expect a lot more of these big video reveals this summer, as companies move around what would have been E3 and schedule their big announcements on their own time. In Sony’s case, however, they never planned to show off the PS5 at E3 to begin with. The Playstation 5 reveal happens Thursday, June 11 at 4 PM Eastern / 1 PM Pacific.
