Sony announces new version of the PlayStation Vita for Japan
At the Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Asia (SCEJA) Press Conference 2013 today, Sony announced their plans to launch a new version of the PlayStation Vita for Japan, ahead of the Tokyo Game Show.
The new model (PCH-2000) will be 20% thinner, 15% lighter, sports an in-built 1GB memory card and provides an additional hour of battery life for a total of six hours. This new version of the PlayStation Vita will also have a 5-inch High Definition LCD display instead of the OLED screen.
The new model will be available in six colors: white, pink, yellow, brown, light blue and black. Sony has also announced that the new version will not be using their proprietary PS Vita charger but will instead use the more common universal micro-USB.
On top of that, Sony will also be reducing the prices of memory cards as well as releasing a 64GB model for 10,479 yen (including tax).
The new PlayStation Vita will be available from 10th October 2013 for 19,929 yen (including tax). No announcement was made for a Western version.
