Simon Pegg Asks For Patience In Regards To Star Trek Beyond Trailer
The Star Trek Beyond trailer released the other day, and it was met with some very diversified responses. While some praised it’s uniqueness, and unfamiliar characters and territory, others thought it looked like a standard action film, and not a Star Trek movie.
Simon Pegg, who plays Scotty and co-wrote the film, shares your concerns, but also notes that the movie is much more than the trailer showed:
“It was very action-packed,” Pegg told Hey U Guys (via /Film). “It was surprising. I find it to be kind of the marketing people saying, ‘Everybody come and see this film, it’s full of action and fun,’ when there’s a lot more to it than that. I didn’t love it because I know there’s a lot more to the film,” he explained. “There’s a lot more story and a lot more character stuff, and a lot more what I would call Star Trek stuff. But you know, they’ve got to bring a big audience in. They’ve got to bang the drum. To the Star Trek fans, I’d say be patient.”
So there you go, the guy who helped write the film, and is himself a big Star Trek fan, thinks that Star Trek Beyond will be both for casual fans, and Star Trek faithful. Will it live up to his words? We’ll find out when Star Trek Beyond arrives on July 22nd, 2016.
