Ship Of Heroes Beta Testing Begins November 1
Ship of Heroes is an upcoming MMO that’s a lot like City of Heroes, except it takes place on a ship. You ride the ship to various locales, beat up the bad guys in every city, and then travel to the next one. Ship of Heroes has been conducting alpha and beta tests since 2017. Today the game’s developers, Heroic Games, at last revealed the date for the game’s first closed beta test for its Character Creator Tool (CCT): November 1.
“We are fulfilling our 2017 promise to open the CCT to everyone who has donated at least $50 over the last couple of years, and let them create original characters using our character models and costumes,” says Casey McGeever, CEO of Heroic Games. “We’ve received a large volume of suggestions and requests over the last couple of years, and most of these have been added to our character creator.”
To participate in the Beta, you must donate at least $50 to the development of Ship of Heroes — and the cutoff date for this is October 15, so you must move fast. If you’ve donated before, but the amount didn’t equal $50, you can donate whatever amount will add up to that.
“We think we’ve made the best character creation tool of any modern MMORPG in terms of scope and depth of customization,” says McGeever. “With three distinct character models, over 100 faces, more than 80 specific morphs, more than 50 kinds of eyes, dozens of costumes and hair models, and more, this is a new level of excellence in customization. What’s more, our CCT is only going to get better over time as we add new costumes, more skin, hair, fur, and other options for players with which to make their own unique avatars. Our players can make more unique characters in Ship of Heroes than there are unique adults on the earth.”
The current plan is to have an early version of Ship of Heroes ready to go for soft-launch in December 2020. The Character Creator Tool goes into beta November 1.
