Sega Announces Bayonetta/Vanquish Double Pack
Sega’s sassy, saucy witch is ten years old (actually she’s centuries old, but in terms of video games…) To celebrate Bayonetta’s birthday, they’re re-releasing her first game — again — but this time on Playstation 4 and XBox One.
Bayonetta will be optimized to take advantage of PS4 and XBox hardware, running in 4K at 60 frames a second. It’s being bundled with Vanquish, a Sega third-person shooter that came out a few months after Bayonetta and will also be ten years old by the time this rerelease comes out.
So what is Vanquish? The game’s about a DARPA agent named Sam Gideon who puts on some high-tech armor called BLADE and attempts to rescue the space colony Providence from dark invading forces. Vanquish was originally released in 2010 for PS3 and XBox 360.
Digitally, Bayonetta and Vanquish will be available separately at $24.99 each. But if you want them both, you can get them at a discounted $39.99. The physical version, which will come in a collector’s Steelbook, will contain both games.
In case you’re wondering, Sega is only permitted to sell Bayonetta 1 outside of the land of Nintendo, because it was the only one produced without Nintendo’s help. So the only way a truly comprehensive Bayonetta collection could happen would be on a Nintendo system..which means if you like Bayonetta, you should really own a Switch by now.
The Bayonetta/Vanquish Double Pack comes out for PS4 and XBox One February 18, 2020.
