SDCC 2019: It’s Glootie-us Maximus In This New Rick And Morty Clip
Friday afternoons don’t get Schwiftier than this. Adult Swim has released a one-minute preview clip from a yet-unaired Rick and Morty episode from the fourth season. It had me laughing pretty much immediately, which is a hard thing to accomplish on my end.
The setup, as implied, is that an alien named Glootie has entered a partnership with Jerry and Morty to develop an app, and the app is actually going to do something dangerous but neither Jerry nor Morty realize this until it’s too late. They try to stop the app from launching, but they really have no clue how one stops an app, so they wing it to disastrous results.
If only Jerry or Morty had noticed the giant stamp on Glootie’s forehead that says “DO NOT DEVELOP MY APP.” That’s what you get for ignoring warnings! Glootie is voiced by special guest star Taika Waititi, director of Thor: Ragnarok.
Though it seems like every hiatus between seasons is longer than the one before it, this gap shouldn’t be repeated, at least not for a while. Harmon and Roiland needed the extra time to hammer out a solid renewal deal, and they got it: Rick and Morty is guaranteed to run another 70 episodes.
The only question is how many of those episodes this upcoming season will be comprised of. It’s very implausible they have 70 ready to go. Adult Swim hasn’t revealed the number, but our assumption is the usual 10 to 12.
New episodes of Rick and Morty begin November 2019 on Adult Swim.
