We have monkeys! Not actual monkeys, but members of a time-destroying cult who call themselves the 12 Monkeys! The panel for the fourth and final season took place at SDCC this morning, and though few answers were revealed, we did get this trailer out of it.
Having binged on all three existing seasons of 12 Monkeys about two months ago, I can confirm that it is mindblowingly awesome and that everybody should be watching it. The fact that SyFy just dumped Season Three over the course of four days with little to no promotion — ON THE SAME WEEKEND TWIN PEAKS PREMIERED — fills me with rage every time I think about it. I can plead with you to watch this show, but it’s no good if you can’t actually watch it.
12 Monkeys pretty much abandoned its movie premise dozens of episodes ago, which was about people from an apocalyptic future traveling back in time to stop a cult from unleashing a plague. The premise is now much wilder than that and involves the cult attempting to collapse time in on itself, killing most people but allowing them to live forever. They’re trying to accomplish this by committing deliberate paradoxes involving Primaries, special humans born throughout history that are the personification of time itself. And that’s just the beginning — I haven’t even gotten into Jennifer yet, which is another paragraph on its own.
If SyFy ever stops overpromoting Blood Drive and Sharknado 532618472 and remembers they own the 12 Monkeys show, maybe they’ll give you a legal chance to watch the previous seasons. I sure hope so. Until that day comes, here’s the fourth season trailer.
