Ryan Reynolds Reacts To Oscar Snub
So, the Oscar nominations were revealed tonight, and somewhat not surprisingly, Deadpool did not receive an award nomination from the committee. In case you were out of the loop, a previous awards association did nominate Deadpool for some awards, and this show and the Oscars have had a lot of crossover in the past. Yet, it didn’t seem to matter, as Deadpool was left off of the ballot.
But, leave it to Ryan Reynolds to take the high road, and state on Twitter:
“Regularly scheduled tickle-fight at Camp #Deadpool is still on. Congrats to all the nominees for these brilliant films. #Oscars2017”
Again, it’s easy to see why the film was “snubbed”, it’s definitely not a film that was “custom made” for the Oscars like some of the films that got nominated were. It was for the comic book community, the same community that made sure the Deadpool was not only a hit, but blew away Box Office expectations. The community that rallied behind Ryan Reynolds and said, “We want this film!” So yeah, it wasn’t nominated for an Oscar, but I bet it made more money than some of those Oscar films did! And sometimes, that’s what matters most.

Ryаn Rеynоlds nеаrly ruinеd his саrееr with "Grееn Lаntеrn" bесаusе it wаs suсh а high prоfilе rоlе. If it's аny соnsоlаtiоn, it wаsn't his fаult thаt mоviе suсkеd sо muсh. Thе blаmе gоеs squаrеly tо thе dirесtоr, thе writеrs аnd tо Wаrnеr Brоthеrs.
Nоt оnly did it burn Ryаn Rеynоlds, but it еffесtivеly dеlаyеd thе Dс сinеmаtiс Univеrsе fоr аnоthеr fivе yеаrs.

Would be the height of the absurd if he had been nominated! I don't see anything much in what he did with this boring character.
The movie is cool to watch (I have to agree with that o_O), but only once, as pure and silly entertainment. It's totally forgettable after a few hours. Even today I can't understand the hype that this movie has managed to achieve.

The Oscars are a juried competition to recognize excellence in the art form of cinema. A movie can be very well executed and hugely entertaining without in any way being the very best in any of the Oscar categories. Especially if it is more focused on entertainment and less on art per se. I don't see that as any kind of snub, just a matter of horses for courses.
