Rumour: ‘Sonic Excursion’ coming to current and next-gen platforms in November
If a post on SegaBits’ ‘Sonic 2013 Speculation Thread’ is to be believed, SEGA’s speedy blue hedgehog and his companions will be spin-dashing onto multiple platforms before Christmas in a brand new adventure.
Our source is NeoGAF forum member ‘ShadiWulf’, who at 23:29 yesterday cited SegaBits user ‘crackdude’ – who at 15:23 yesterday published information originating from someone called ‘Wintos the Traveling Salesman’. Are you still following me? Good; then I’ll continue.
The self-declared wandering tradesperson claims that Sonic Team is currently developing a 3D platformer codenamed ‘Sonic Excursion’, which will allegedly arrive on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, PC, Nintendo 3DS, PlayStation 4 and Microsoft’s next Xbox in November. According to Wintos, Excursion will be akin to the now-retro 16-bit hits we adored in the 90s, focusing on Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy Rose. All four will be playable, and the game’s story will recount their various run-ins with rotund mad scientist Dr Eggman.
