Rumour: Assassin’s Creed III to receive Season Pass DLC?
Kotaku have been sent an image reportedly given to GameStop employees which would seem to reveal the existence of a Season Pass for Assassin’s Creed III.
The note was reportedly sent from Ubisoft to GameStop employees to thank them for convincing enough customers to pre-order Assassin’s Creed III ahead of its October release.
The note goes onto say that a development team will begin working on post-launch DLC implemented within a Season Pass scheme. You can view the note at Kotaku.
No word on whether the the DLC is single player, multiplayer or both. Ubisoft have been showing off 4v4 competitive mode Domination and 4-player co-op mode Wolf Pack recently so maybe we could see more content related to those modes.
We’ve seen Season Passess implemented within games like Gears of War 3, Uncharted 3 and Max Payne 3 (seeing a pattern emerging here) and since Assassin’s Creed is a big money-maker, it’ll come as no surprise if there’s some extensive DLC released post-launch.

Of games i have seen with passes so far, I’m not a fan of it, not at the price anyway. I could see someone making it worthwhile though, and i guess i should give it time, since its kind of a new concept.

i’m not really for the season pass stuff. it seems similar to a subscription to me, and well, I guess i prefer to make one-time purchases for my games.

I’m not sure how I feel about Season Passess – I felt Gears 3 gave me a lot of good content, but it was still a little expensive upfront. Saints Row The Third’s season pass was a massive waste of money, though.
I wish Season Passes were only released at the same time as the ‘first’ DLC – none of this ‘pay it upfront now and wait for all the DLC in a few months’ crap – because that’s really off-putting for a lot of people. I suppose you could buy a pass at any time, but I think they get a bad reputation because of that.
