Rocket League: Cross Network Play Officially Kicks Off
Psyonix has officially announced that Rocket League is now officially able to support cross-network play. In a pretty huge, momentous moment for online multiplayer gaming, Rocket League will now have cross-network play between players on Xbox One and Steam PC versions of the game.
Rocket League marks the first-ever Xbox One game to feature cross-network support. The Rocket League community for Xbox One runs up to nearly two million players since it launched for the console last February. Now the Xbox One players will be able to play in a much bigger pool of gamers. Players can choose cross-network gameplay in both public and private matches, or they can opt not to include cross-network rivals. This is possible using an easy-to-find toggle check box in the game’s Options menu.
Speaking on the occasion, Psyonix vice president Jeremy Dunham stated in a press release, “We’re really excited to bring Xbox One and PC players closer together. Cross-network play has been something that Xbox One gamers have been asking us for since the day we launched, and thanks to Microsoft’s new cross-network policies, we’re proud to give it to them.”
This is a pretty huge moment for games, and it’s amazing that Psyonix is finally attempting something of this magnitude. It’s something more developers should research and try experimenting with. Rocket League is available digitally for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC via Steam. The Rocket League Xbox one and Steam PC cross-network compatibility is now available worldwide.
