Rise Of The Tomb Raider’s Bonus Chapter Hits Tomorrow
Square-Enix released Rise of the Tomb Raider last November for the XBox One, as a temporary exclusive. It was announced then that a bonus DLC chapter would follow it in a few months. That time has come to pass: XBox owners can play Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch starting tomorrow.
Baba Yaga is the villain of a Russian folktale, and like every other fairy tale in Croft’s world, she’s secretly 100% real. Lara will explore her way through a darn creepy tomb, solve more puzzles, shoot at more enemies and possibly encounter the nasty crone of legend herself.
Square is promising “hours of additional gameplay” with this release, which comes with the $29.99 season pass. The pass also includes Endurance Mode, made available last month — which is a mode that ups the challenge by making Lara constantly hungry and cold. The pass will also cover a third DLC pack called Cold Darkness Awakened, but it has yet to be announced what is inside it.
One notable thing: the release date for this DLC, January 26, is mere days before the official PC release of Rise of the Tomb Raider as a whole. Will the PC version have Baba Yaga available at launch? Square-Enix isn’t telling.
If it is made available, it’ll be a good hint that the upcoming PS4 version — which will arrive this fall once Microsoft’s one-year exclusivity deal expires — might include the DLC as well and come complete in one box. Let’s hope!
