Rise of the Tomb Raider PlayStation 4 Release Confirmed for 2016
Square Enix officially announced today what was already long suspected by the gaming community as Rise of the Tomb Raider, the next installment of the rebooted Tomb Raider video game franchise, will be released on PlayStation 4. There was certain outcry by fans when the game was announced as an Xbox One and Xbox 360 console exclusive, but later it became known that the game would likely only be a timed exclusive for Xbox and a PlayStation 4 release could still happen later on. The announcement finally puts that discussion to rest.
Rise of the Tomb Raider will launch for the PlayStation about a year after its Xbox One and Xbox 360 release for the Holiday 2015 season. Instead, the game will hit the PS4 for the Holiday 2016 release period. In addition, the game will be available for Windows 10 and Steam in early 2016.
The new game finds Lara Croft traveling to remote regions of Sibera to find the secret of immortality before a ruthless organization known as Trinity. She was discredited as part of a cover up after her harrowing experience in the first game. Now, Lara Croft must use her wits and survival skills, form new alliances and embrace her destiny as the Tomb Raider.
Rise of the Tomb Raider will arrive first on Xbox One and Xbox 360 on November 10, 2015.
