Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality Hits the Shelves This Week
Adult Swim has announced that the new Rick and Morty video game, Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality, has officially launched today. The new VR experience is out now for HTC Vive, Oculus and Touch. Players can purchase the game on Steam and Oculus Home. You can also check out the game’s launch trailer below.
So Adult Swim Games and Owlchemy Labs have done the unthinkable. They’ve created a VR game that puts you right into the thick of the world of the popular animated series, Rick and Morty. Players take the role of Morty’s clone and have to deal with all the trauma that comes with it.
So this appears to be the first time Rick and Morty fans can experience the world created by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon in 3D. How well it plays remains to be see. This might not be the killer app to prove VR gaming is viable, but it might definitely get some Rick and Morty fans into it.
The game is fully voice acted, and players have to use their hands in VR to pick up and interact with the 3D world. You can listen to directions from Rick or even ignore them. The trailer is very much like a Rick and Morty bit, with it’s meta, fourth-wall breaking humor. Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-Ality is available now for $29.99.
