Psy is back with a New Song to prove he is not a One-hit-Wonder
Psy is back after years of silence. He is here to prove he is still got it! In 2012, His song Gangnam Style captured the whole world by storm. That song got 4,402,907,788 views on YouTube and, at a certain point, was the most viewed video of all time until Despacito defeated it. Gangnam Style got viral because of its music video’s humor and easy-to-follow dance steps. Because of that song, everyone and their Grandma were doing the horse-riding dance steps at weddings and birthday parties.
He followed it with the song Gentleman, which got 1.4 Billion views. Billboard decided to use Youtube Views and social media engagement as a factor for a song to chart. Before, it was all about album sales, but streaming and views are now a factor. The success of his first two international crossover songs opened the floodgates for KPOP. Americans slowly became more open-minded to South Korean acts and other Asian Acts. It also influenced Hollywood to be more open-minded to Asian actors and Asian American actors. We now see Asian actors getting more nuanced characters to play on screen. All that Butterfly effect happened because Gangnam Style got viral.
The Japanese Song Sukiyaki used to be the only Asian language song that charted in the US, and that was from the 1960s, but Kpop changed that. Before the Kpop explosion, Mixed Asian descent American and British singers tried to pass as white or black to chart. We see some of them being open and proud of their Asian lineage.
Psy’s Comeback song “That That” is now the number 1 trending video on Youtube as of Today!
“That That” has a wild west theme, and it is a collaboration with Suga from BTS. As of the writing of this article, it has 4.3 Million likes and 152 thousand dislikes. Psy’s new song is now number 1 trending in the Music section of YouTube. That shows he still got it after breaking the glass ceilings for Asian Artists to be mainstream in the West. It has the potential to surpass Gangnam Style because of the creative concept and easy-to-follow dance steps people can emulate.

So how come I didn’t know about this? I agree with you, this is turned all the way up. From start to finish you see and hear the potential. It even looks like he spent some big time money on choreography this time .😄I can’t wait to catch the dance moves. Love it, love it!

So now that he’s released this song, he will only be off the list of ONE-Hit Wonders IF this song becomes a hit. Then maybe he will be on the official list of TWO-Hit Wonders. Rolling Stones Magazine publishes such a list. LOL.
