Promare Will Return To Theaters For Encore Showing
Promare, the new anime film from Studio Trigger, is doing better than expected for distributor GKIDS — so much so that they’re bringing the movie back later this year after it finishes its current run. Promare is Studio Trigger’s first feature film.
These days, people can’t get enough Trigger — their forceful, weighty animation and visual pizazz has made them fan favorites. They’ve been contracted to create animated sequences for a few recent video games. They were the ones behind Kill la Kill, Gurran Lagann and Little Witch Academia, and Hiroyuki Imaishi (who directed the latter two) is behind Promare.
Thirty years has passed since the appearance of the Burnish, a race of flame-wielding mutant beings, who destroyed half of the world with fire. When a new group of aggressive mutants calling themselves Mad Burnish appears, the epic battle between Galo Thymos, a new member of the anti-Burnish rescue team Burning Rescue, and Lio Fotia, the leader of Mad Burnish begins.
When Promare returns this December, it will bring with it some exclusive bonus content (GKIDS is not specific as to what it could be). The new showings will be the subtitled versions only.
You can see Promare today if you’re quick — the first theatrical run is still playing in many locations. If you miss it, Promare (Redux) will start playing December 8 at 12:55 PM local time. Tickets go on sale November 1.
