Prescription for Sleep: Game Music Lullabies Volume III Available Now
The most successful line of video game cover albums that Scarlet Moon Records publishes are the Prescription for Sleep series. As of today, the thirteenth album has been released.
Prescription for Sleep is a series of albums containing smooth jazz renditions of well-known melodies from popular video games. The series has covered Secret of Mana, Undertale, Celeste, Shovel Knight, Stardew Valley and many more. Most recently PFS broke the mold to cover its first anime, basing an album on the music of Attack On Titan. Now Prescription for Sleep presents Game Music Lullabies Volume III, once again scored by the Japanese jazz duo GENTLE LOVE. Highlights include “Windmill Hut” from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, “Tristram” from the original Diablo, and “Kraid” from the original Metroid, along with renditions of songs from the NieR, Ys and Final Fantasy series.
“I couldn’t be more pleased with how Volume III turned out,” says Scarlet Moon producer Jayson Napolitano. “I think we hit a fine balance between popular themes and deep cuts that will hopefully turn listeners on to some lesser-known tunes from some of their favorite games. It’s a real pleasure to finally cover Ragnarok Online, Diablo, and Legend of the Mystical Ninja, in particular, as they have amazing music that is not often featured on other arrange albums. We’ve got more in store for fans of the series, and are always open to fan input on track selection, so please let us know what you think!”
