Power Rangers has been a part of our culture for just about 25 years. And two years ago roughly, Boom! Studios decided to start a new comic series featuring the original Mighty Morphin team. Fast forward two years, and it’s one of the most popular comics on the market today. And to celebrate the 25th issue, the writing team of Kyle Higgins and Ryan Parrott (who writes the second PR series GO GO Power Rangers) have come together to make Power Rangers: Shattered Grid.
This story delves deep into the mythology that Higgins created in his Power Rangers comic, where the Rangers met an alternate universe form of Tommy Oliver, who succumbed to the power Rita Repulsa gave him, and became Lord Drakkon. He took over the world, killed most of the original Rangers, and now, he wants more. He wants to wipe out all Rangers from our world…and all of time.
The first issue of Power Rangers: Shattered Grid comes out next Wednesday, and to get you pumped, Kyle Higgins teamed up with Power Rangers legend Jason David Frank to create an epic prelude to the event. Here, JDF becomes Lord Drakkon for the first time in live action, and watches the Rangers in every series before beginning his war to wipe them all out.
