PlayStation Partnering With Hideo Kojima
Sony PlayStation officially announced this week a new partnership that will likely have gamers all over the world salivating and practically foaming at the mount. PlayStation is partnering with game designer and director Hideo Kojima, the creator of the Metal Gear Solid franchise, and the newly formed Kojima Productions. You can check out the announcement clip with PlayStation’s Andrew House and Hideo Kojima confirming the news in the player below.
Kojima Productions and Sony PlayStation are partnering for a new video game title. Per the announcement, the first software title created by the new Kojima Productions will be exclusive to the PlayStation 4. Kojima also said that his new Kojima Productions will be an “independent development studio.” In the announcement, House added, “Kojima-san, on behalf of PlayStation and together with our fans, we’d like to offer our full support on your new journey.” Well, it certainly seems like PlayStation plans on giving Kojima carte-blanche and full control over his new game project.
Kojima also confirmed on Twitter yesterday (see his tweet below) that his employment contract with Konami was officially terminated as of December 15. Kojima stated, “Today marks a new start for me. I’m committed to be involved in creative activities for as long as I live. Look forward to what’s coming.”
