Pilot For Trauma Team Series Appears Online
Back when touchscreens were a new novelty and the Wii was the hottest technology around, Atlus put out a series of surgery simulators called Trauma Team. Among all the “gimmick” games with special controls released during this period, Trauma Team was one of the better and more well-received. But if Atlus’s proposed TV series based on the games had ever gotten off the ground, people might have turned on the brand pretty quickly.
In 2010 two production companies (Instavision and Fat Dragon Films) cooperated with Atlus on adapting their then-popular game series for television. The pilot was filmed without a network deal (or a deal with any distributor in existence at the time), but they considered it a temporary setback. Roberto Grande, a higher-up at Instavision, felt the project couldn’t miss solely due to its brand. “We’ll get our first 2-3 million viewers just by reaching out to the existing fan base,” Grande told Hollywood Reporter. “Then, it’s our job to keep them there.”
From the looks of the pilot, they did their job horribly, and it’s no wonder Atlus couldn’t find any takers. The storyline, characters, dialogue, and even the camerawork are so painfully cliche Dick Wolf himself would call it unoriginal. As out headline says, “Trauma Team” has now leaked online and you can watch the complete spectacle, but we would advise finding better things to do with your time.
