Paul Rudd Discusses His Role in Captain America: Civil War
It may be hard to fathom at times, but Avengers: Age of Ultron was not the last film in Marvel’s Phase 2. That honor goes to Ant-Man, a movie that’s faced its fair share of challenges, but seems to be poised to make a splash at the box office. To show its faith in the movie, Marvel has not only already announced that star Paul Rudd will be in Captain America: Civil War, but he’s already started shooting for the sequel. Rudd talked to The Best Show about the experience:
“It’s been an interesting thing [playing Ant-Man] because I also just went and worked a little bit on Captain America 3,” Rudd told The Best Show. “To be in that Marvel world, but kind of be somewhat in a bubble [on the solo movie] and now to kind of have these experiences where I’m standing opposite Captain America, It’s been a surreal ride so far. It’s really only just starting.”
He’s not wrong, though anything is certain when it comes to the box office (just look at Jurassic World last weekend). If Marvel’s track record has proven anything, it’s that Ant-Man could do really well. And if it does? Not only will a sequel no doubt be in the works, but Paul Rudd could be taking Ant-Man straight to the next Avengers film.
Captain America: Civil War hits theaters on May 6, 2016. Paul Rudd will first appear as Scott Lang and Ant-Man in the Ant-Man movie due out on July 17.
