Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous Reaches $1M On Kickstarter
The classic tabletop RPG Pathfinder is coming to PC monitors…..again! After the success of Pathfinder: Kingmaker, creator Owlcat Games is introducing a sequel….Pathfinder: Wrath Of The Righteous. The crowdfunding campaign launched on the fourth of this month, and it just broke the one million mark with 25 days left.
Like its predecessor, Pathfinder: Wrath Of The Righteous translates the mechanics of the tabletop game into a video game format, while adding a few extra touches of its own. Your ultimate goal in the game is to take back the city of Drezen, which has been conquered by demonic forces. This will take some effort as the walls are heavily fortified and you’re dealing with limited resources. To improve your chances of winning the war, you’ll need to strike alliances, but who can you really trust?
The game is being designed with RTWP battles in mind (real time with pause), but nine stretch goals later, Owlcat can’t deny fan demand and they’re introducing a turn-based gameplay mode.
“We want to thank the mod community for all the work they did with Pathfinder: Kingmaker,” says Oleg Shpilchevskiy, Head of Studio at Owlcat. “We took inspiration from Hsunyu’s modification, which added a turn-based mode to the game. The players liked it so much that with the launch of the Kickstarter campaign, we have received a large number of messages from the community eager to play Wrath of the Righteous with TBM.”
“In fact, we have been working on it for quite some time, and the plan was to announce it later once a demo was going to be playable. But with all the enthusiasm in the community, we decided to share it now. Our focus remains the same, the new game is designed to be played in real-time with pause, but if you want to go turn-based, you will have such an option.” says Oleg Shpilchevskiy, Head of Studio
