This morning Kodansha USA announced three additional manga they plan to add to their library soon, although “soon” stretches a bit further in some cases than others. Two thirds of the announced titles will not be available for at least six months, but they are confirmed to be coming at least.
Gachiakuta is a dystopian fantasy about a floating city where the wealth gap is prominent and justice is nonexistent. Our protagonist wasn’t lucky enough to be born on the ritzy side of town, but things could be worse…and go there quickly. When he’s falsely accused of murder, the punishment is to be thrown out with the trash — down to the ruins of Earth! Fortunately he learns to adapt and to battle the monsters he encounters on the surface, and now he’s got one thing on his mind: revenge…
Perhaps the world got better between the time of that story and this next one, and the aforementioned monsters became a common food source. That would explain Pass the Monster Meat, Milady!, a weird tale about a woman with a weird name (“Melphiera Marchalrayd”) and even weirder cravings. Melphiera loves cooking up and eating monster meat. In her society it’s considered undignified. But Melphiera believes she can convince everybody that monster flesh is the most choice delicacy of them all.
Both Gachiakuts and Pass The Monsetr Meat, Milady! are scheduled for a fall release, but there’s also a rom-com on this list that will be out digitally next month.
