Bioware’s New Anthem VIP Demo Trailer
Bioware’s Anthem is one of the most ambitious video games that will be released this winter — in the works since 2012, the game is an MMO where players form teams of armored “Freelancers” with a mission to explore the area surrounding their colony. It’s the wish of Bioware — and their parent company EA — that Anthem turns into their next big franchise. They already have a plan ready to go if that happens, stretching out ten years. Bioware wants you to play Anthem so badly that they’ve produced a trailer enticing you to play it before its official release. The Anthem VIP Demo will be the earliest version of Anthem released to the public. There are two ways to gain access to it: pre-order the game, or subscribe for at least one month to EA’s Steam wannabe, Origin. There IS a third way: be buddies with someone who paid for either of those things. Each VIP Demo player will be given three passes to give to their friends.
Free League’s 2019 Lineup
Free League Publishing has some ambitious plans for the tabletop gaming market this year. They shared the list with us this afternoon, and while there are no brand-new titles revealed, what is on the way is still great. The first entry is Things from The Flood, the long-awaited sequel to Tales From The Loop, which Free League swears will see release in 2019. When we have a precise release date, we’ll pass it along. The Things from the Flood RPG thrusts the Tales universe into a grim alternate 1990s. Step into the shoes of a teenager growing up in a decade of change – and disaster. Still, your life goes on as before. You go to school, fall miserably in love and try to fend of boredom. But when teens start to go missing, you and your friends decide to solve the mystery. Following Things from The Flood will be Crusader Kings: The Board Game. The original promise on the Kickstarter was for a November 2018 release….it’s slipped a bit,
Nintendo Announces Smash Bros And Splatoon eSports Tournaments
We’re all aware by now how slow Nintendo can be to react to trends it didn’t initiate. The company is a far better leader than a follower, and whenever it has to adapt to changes established by its competitors…it tends to stumble. We’re still waiting on a decent online plan. So it comes as no surprise it’s taken this long for Big N to respond to the esports industry and enter the field, but now they have. Presenting the first official, Nintendo-led esports tournaments for both Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Splatoon 2! Beginning next month, tryouts for the Splatoon 2 North America Inkling Open 2019 and the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate North America Open 2019 will begin at four designated locations across America. Three individual rounds of online events will be played there, and the winners will ultimately have their chance at the final event at the PAX East video game conference in Boston on March 30. “This inclusive pair of tournaments is a great way for anyone to
Into The Spider-Verse Could’ve Had An Australian Spider-Man
By now you have all seen the amazing animated film known as Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, correct? If there are any outliers, they might want to skip reading this newspost until they’ve seen the movie, as it spoils a bit of its plot. Are we clear? The rest of you can venture ahead. An infinite number of universes offers infinite possibilities, and there were several permutations of Spider-Man Lord and Miller considered before choosing the final lineup. One was thought up late in production but did not make it past the script phase: an Australian Spider-Man. According to co-director and co-writer Rodney Rothman: I invented a character I called Australian Spider-Man, who was also part of the group of Spiders that appear halfway through. He told everyone he’d been there for a day already because he was 24 hours ahead, and then he glitched to death very gruesomely in front of the others. They all then look at each other and say, ‘Oh, my gosh, we only have 24 hours
Channing Tatum Really Wants To Be Gambit
Those who grew up absorbing X-Men material, especially during the 90s, were fond of the supercool Ragin’ Cajun known as Gambit, whose mutant superpower was charging up items with explosive energy and flinging them. Gambit’s weapon of choice was playing cards, which he’d charge and toss casually while uttering one-liners peppered with New Orleans French. Years ago, 20th Century Fox promised actor Channing Tatum he’d get to play Gambit in a feature film. But then, as many Hollywood projects often do, the Gambit solo movie hit delays and setbacks. First Fox hired director Rupert Wyatt to take charge of the project. Then he bailed. Fox’s next choice was Doug Liman, who also quit after a few months. The third choice was Gore Virbinski, who bowed out in record time due to reported “scheduling issues.” The Gambit movie is currently directorless and many Hollywood insiders assumed it was DOA by now. Tatum, however, isn’t willing to give up. He really, really wants to be this guy, and he may be at
Early Earthworm Jim 2 Prototype Discovered
The wiki website Hidden Palace has managed to track down a very early prototype of Earthworm Jim 2 for the Super NES. While prototypes are discovered fairly frequently these days, most of them tend to be nearly complete versions of the game they represent. Not this time…this version of Earthworm Jim 2 is radically different from what was sold. First off, to refresh your memory as to what Earthworm Jim 2 was like, the game was recently replayed at Awesome Games Done Quick 2019. Here is a full playthrough: Several of the levels you see here aren’t in the prototype, and in their place are levels no one knew about that didn’t make the final cut. A level called “Carnival Ride,” which is similar to the Donkey Kong Country minecart stages, features Jim careening along a track. The proto is missing some common enemies from the game and actually has some that the final doesn’t. Several enemies are depicted as rendered CG models; in the final game none are. The
Shazam! The Short New Trailer
We have yet to see a trailer for WB’s Shazam! that we don’t love. The character with the lightning-bolt chest, played in adult form by Zachary Levi, is actually Billy Batson, a small boy who has the ability to turn into Shazam. He’s still Billy inside, and if you were a kid who could turn into a grown-up — a superhero no less — what would you do first? Billy does what we all would’ve done….. While most comic book superheroes were originally marketed to children, Shazam! was the comic that made it explicit. The central character was a literal child that obtained the power to turn into a full-fledged adult superhero, living the dream of every pint-sized squirt reading the rag. Said character’s super-alias was originally Captain Marvel, and remained so until very recently. As you know because you’ve seen the trailers and ads, Marvel also has a Captain Marvel, and the existence of the two characters led to a trademark dispute that lasted generations. This was the decade
Jak II Physical Release Dated For January 25
Last month Limited Run Games pulled its biggest surprise release ever when they revealed they were bringing the Jak and Daxter trilogy to physical form — on PS4, that is. Jak 1 came out December 7, and Jaks 2 and 3 were promised later. Unfortunately this announcement was made the very day the first Jak and Daxter was made available, and with only 5,000 copies in total. Many people did not find out this product existed until the 6 AM sale had happened and half the copies were gone. Many more were not clued in until they all vanished. Limited Run has learned from the complaints and has vowed to do better. For one thing, you’re hearing about Jak II BEFORE the game is out. Limited Run revealed the upcoming release a week before it’s due out, tweeting out a simple “II” in the Jak font as a tease followed by the release date. And there will be MORE copies! Perhaps not as many as people would prefer, but much
Allan Poe’s Nightmare Updated On His Birthday
If Edgar Allan Poe was still alive today, he would be 210 years old. And in honor of the occasion, mobile developer Gametopia has updated their Poe-themed game, Allan Poe’s Nightmare. You play as the famous macabre scribe, whose own creations have come to life and are tormenting him. The unique visuals are hand-drawn and use just four colors: white, black, green and red. The soundtrack is full of classical pieces by the likes of Dvořák, Bach, Chopin, Brahms and Prokofiev, and samples their most frenetic and stress-inducing works. Allan Poe’s Nightmare allows the player to discover (or rediscover) the work of this great writer, testing his reflexes through five delirious levels, based, among others, the poem “Annabel Lee” or the story “The Mask of Red Death.” The player will unlock Chevalier Auguste Dupin’s notes, the famous detective created by Poe, to discover who has pushed him into this alternate reality of nightmares and what his true intentions are. If you’re wondering what we’re talking about, it’s never been cheaper

Exciting times!” crows the official statement from Team Jolly Roger. “We couldn’t have done it without our wonderful Discord community, which grew beyond our expectations during the Worbital beta. Their feedback has been priceless in helping us create a game that we hope can
I’m Just Ken finally has a full official Music Video
I’m just Ken is Ryan Gosling‘s first song to reach Billboard top 100 since Lalaland. The Barbie Movie is achieving more victories due to its unique marketing and incredibly production and controversial writing. Among its dazzling achievements is the sensational hit, “I’m Just Ken.” Before the film even hit theaters, 1.55 minute teaser of “I’m Just Ken” was unveiled. It got viral and birthed so many memes. The I’m Just Ken official music video showcases behind-the-scenes moments and scenes from the I’m Just Ken number from the movie. It skillfully merges the song’s appealing melody with dynamic visuals, excluding any spoken lines. “I’m Just Ken” is more than a catchy melody and touching lyrics. Sword of Convallaria Announced For PC And Mobile
XD Games have announced a new tactical fantasy RPG is coming from their studio: Sword of Convallaria. The game is being developed for both mobile and PC gamers, two markets that typically don’t blend. On the ancient continent of Rodinia exists the humble and peaceful town of Convallaria — or perhaps not so peaceful anymore, as the country it belongs to — Iria — is currently embroiled in conflict. You are leader of the Sword of Convallaria Mercenary Group, whose main goal is to diffuse tensions and restore peace to Iria. This won’t be easy (if it was there would be no game) — it requires forging equipment, researching technology, and forming alliances with various factions in Iria. Be careful to ally with the right people! Lei Guo, lead developer of Sword of Convallaria, says the game was inspired by his love for oldschool turn-based RPGs and retro-style pixel art. The game so far features 300 maps and 1,000 stages with multiple endings for players to unlock, based on the
