Critical Role Now Crowdfunding Animated Special
Once a week, a group of professional voice actors gets together, turns on the camera, and livestreams themselves playing tabletop games. The series is called Critical Role, and now these cartoon actors would like to put their voices to work on an actual cartoon using the storyline their play sessions have cooked up. They’ve proposed Critical Role: The Legend Of Vox Machina, an animated special starring their characters from the game. The cast would be voiced by them, of course, written by their friends in the industry, and animated by Titmouse Studios (Big Mouth, The Venture Bros., Metalocalypse, tons of other shows). Does Critical Role have the support to pull such a weighty endeavor off? And how! Response to their Kickstarter was immediate and massive. As of this writing CR has raised $6,310,000 from its initial $750,000 goal. That’s correct: they asked for 750 thou to play with, and they’re getting over six million. This should be a nice-looking cartoon! Because of the high revenue total, Critical Role has enough
Frag Officially Frags To Life On Mobile
For the past six months, French developer Oh BiBi (maybe that means something in French) has been running beta tests for Frag, their new mobile shooter. Today they’re pleased to announce their testing is done: Frag is a finished product, and it’s fraggable anywhere you go on both standard OSes. Here’s how to play Frag: each match teleports you to an arena along with four AI teammates, which can be pre-chosen from a library of forty. You can switch between the characters at any time, or automatically take control of one when your current character dies. Your team’s goal: be the last ones standing! “When we started the project a year ago, before Fortnite blew up, we were certain a shooter would hit the top 10 on mobile,” says Oh BiBi cofounder Stanislas Dewavrin. “Control was a challenge during the design phase. We wanted it to be absolutely perfect. As precise as a mouse, and as intuitive as a touch interface. After months of hard work, we figured out a system
Bloodstained: Curse Of The Moon Getting Physical Edition
Everyone’s eagerly awaiting Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, the upcoming return to Gothic castles from the man who put the “vania” into Metroidvania, Koji Igarashi. However we already got a taste of the game, in a manner of speaking: last year Iga released a spinoff, Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon, that was rendered entirely in old-school 8-bit style. There will be a physical release for Ritual of the Night. But Curse of the Moon seemed doomed to digital damnation, until Limited Run stepped in. Today they announced a limited physical release for Curse of the Moon would be available starting March 15! The release will be for Playstation 4, Nintendo Switch and PS Vita (yes, the Vita just ceased production….but Limited Run has a limited number of Vita releases left, and no one knows what the final one will be). The Switch version will be an open preorder, but the Sony versions require you to be at the computer at a specific time (9 AM or 6 PM EST, usually).
The Flashback Interview: Antonia Dorian
Earlier this year, I published an interview with Becky LeBeau. That interview was such a success that one of Becky’s friends, as seen in the cover photo, reached out about the possibility of an interview with me. That friend’s name is Antonia Dorian, and she’s worked in multiple fields, ranging from dancing in Las Vegas to modeling for SoftBodies to acting in many of Jim Wynorski’s movies. We discussed all those things and more on Tuesday, February 19th, and I hope you all enjoy getting to know her. Say hello to Antonia Dorian! Antonia: Hello? Johnny: Hey, Antonia. It’s Johnny. Antonia: Hi. I know. I remember your number (laughing). Hi. Johnny: How are you? Antonia: Oh, I’m good. Thanks for waiting. Johnny: I have my questions ready to go… Antonia: Okay. Johnny: …Starting with this: Although you started acting in the 90s, you came of age in the 80s. What are your favorite memories of the 80s? Antonia: That’s cute (laughing). Do you mean what I liked? I actually was
Arrow Is Ending With Season Eight
Last month The CW announced they had renewed their entire superhero slate, and were thinking about a new series centered around Ruby Rose’s Batwoman. “If they’re going to do that,” we remarked, “they really need to get rid of one of the older shows. Arrow, most preferably.” Guess….they took our advice? “This was a difficult decision to come to, but like every hard decision we’ve made for the past seven years, it was with the best interests of Arrow in mind,” say the producers of the show in a joint statement. “We’re heartened by the fact that Arrow has birthed an entire universe of shows that will continue on for many years to come. We’re excited about crafting a conclusion that honors the show, its characters and its legacy and are grateful to all the writers, producers, actors, and — more importantly — the incredible crew that has sustained us and the show for over seven years.” Lead actor Stephen Amell added, “Playing Oliver Queen has been the greatest professional
Elsword’s Laby Gets Her Third Job Path
KOG Games is a publisher of free-to-play MMOs. This week they’ve updated one of their most popular offerings, Elsword. The update specifically targets their newest playable character, Laby, adding a third job path for her — and a limited-time event to celebrate it. Laby’s excitement from entering a new world soon faded and was replaced by a feeling of discomfort. She could not shake the feeling, eventually leading her to make a mistake in the battlefield. Despite this, she was able to defeat the enemies with Nisha’s help. Bellonde, however, was injured in the process and his wounds were not healing immediately like hers. She finally realized where her feelings of discomfort were coming from. Trusting Nisha to take care of her, Laby gives all of her emotions to Nisha allowing her to become corporeal while Laby slowly fades away. To prevent Laby from disappearing, Nisha turned her into a mirror and promised to make this world a place just for Laby – where she can be happy like before.
Acts Of Desperation Coming To VOD
Gravitas Ventures will be releasing their new crime thriller Acts of Desperation on VOD platforms in just a few days. The movie is well-named….pretty much everyone in it is desperate in some way. A nameless cop isn’t having the best of weeks. He suspects his wife is cheating on him, and the thoughts of said affair are keeping him on edge during his already stressful job. He’s on the trail of a bank robber while at the same time facing blackmail from two greedy street thugs. In the middle of all this is a “desperately obsessed woman” who’s falling in love with the robber after he saved her from a suicide attempt. When all these incidents meet and clash together, things get noisy. Acts of Desperation stars Paul Sorvino (Goodfellas). Jason Gedrick (Backdraft, “Bosch”), Kira Reed Lorsch (“The Bay”), Tim DeZarn (The Cabin in the Woods), Treva Etienne (Black Hawk Down), Erin O’Brien (Killing Joan), Neraida Bega (Christmas Crime Story), Chris Coppola (“Ray Donovan”) and Vince Lozano (Pirates of the
This Is The Final Day For The Call Of Cthulhu Kickstarter
If you still want The Call Of Cthulhu, today’s your last day. Free League Publishing (Tales from The Loop, Mutant: Year Zero) will be ending their Kickstarter for the illustrated book tomorrow. It’s broken its initial pledge tenfold, and like the rise of Lovecraft’s monster itself, it’s definitely coming. What has risen may sink, and what has sunk may rise… When Francis Thurston discovers notes left behind by his grand-uncle, he soon discovers evidence of an unspeakable horror. An insight that something beyond reality itself is haunting humanity. Nightmarish visions of a colossal city that rises from the sea and a sleeping god that drives people into madness. In the shadows, those dwell that wish to awaken the one that slumbers in order to spread madness and destruction over the world. Step by step, Francs realizes that his relative’s research got too close to the truth. Francis becomes obsessed by the search for knowledge, while ancient powers rises from the depth and a darkness descends upon the world. The stars are right.
The Art Of Dungeons And Dragons Celebrated In New Documentary
A dragonload of memorable artwork has graced the books, boxes and manuals of the Dungeons and Dragons series over the decades, and an upcoming documentary from The Nacelle Company is all about the history of D&D’s pretty pictures. Eye of The Beholder: The Art of Dungeons & Dragons will be released in two months. Directed by Kelley Stagle and Brian Stillman (Netflix’s The Toys That Made Us), it contains more than 40 interviews with fantasy illustration superstars, all of them veterans of D&D — including Larry Elmore, Jeff Easly, Clyde Caldwell, Brom, Tony DiTerlizzi, Todd Lockwood, Erol Otus, and Margaret Weiss, as well as many luminary fans who didn’t make their fortunes in D&D, but admire it from afar. Eye of the Beholder first screened at the Gen Con 2018 Film Festival, where it won Best Documentary and sold out three screenings. It then traveled to the Clifton Film Celebration, where it won Best Feature Documentary and a nomination for Best Overall Film. “I’ve played Dungeons & Dragons since the early Eighties, and

John Cena and JK Simmons will reprise their roles in Mortal Kombat 1
John Cena and J.K. Simmons are set to reprise their roles as Peacemaker and Omni-Man in Mortal Kombat 1. Just a month ago, Peacemaker, Omni-Man, and Homelander were announced as guest DLC characters for Mortal Kombat 1, joining returning favorites like Quan Chi, Ermac, and Takeda. In Mortal Kombat 11, Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger lent their likenesses during their prime to portray the Terminator and Rambo. While these DLCs were well-received and popular in tournaments, they were not voiced by the actors who provided their likenesses. Peacemaker and Omniman in Kombat pack one This time, however, J.K. Simmons, known for his role as Omni-Man in Invincible, will be lending his voice to his iconic supervillain character from the controversial Amazon Prime animated series. This unexpected success has led some to view Cena’s DC comic run as surpassing Dwayne Johnson’s portrayal
Hiboka at Play NYC | Flying Carpets Games on Malagasy Folklore Inspired Survival Horror Indie Game
We recently hit Play NYC, a New York based convention that highlights local video game and tabletop game developers. We spoke with Salim Larochelle of Flying Carpets Games on his studio’s upcoming survival horror game, Hiboka. Hiboka is the spirit underworld of Malagasy folklore. The game features two playable characters. The first playable character is Alexandre Leblanc, a wealthy teenage boy grieving the loss of his mother. The second is Ramala Fifaliana, a Malagasy girl Alexandre encounters during his search to find the entrance to Hiboka. Together, they hope to uncover the truth behind the cursed Sanatry Mansion. PopGeeks: Tell us about Hiboka. Salim Larochelle on Hiboka: Alright. So, Hiboka is a survival horror game based on the folklore of Madagascar. So, it’s about the fairy tales of Madagascar, the creatures of that area of the world. It plays a lot like old-fashioned survival horror games on the PS2, like Silent Hill, Resident Evil, that kind of game. It takes place in another era, 1942, where people are trapped inside a mansion in the
