These Pint-size superheroes had been a big part of the childhood of multiple generations since the late ’90s. Sony Will Let You Preorder The PS5 Directly From Them…If You’re Worthy
We still don’t know how much the Playstation 5 will cost, or the exact date it will go on sale, but we do know when you’ll be able to preorder it…sort of. Sony opened a mysterious waiting list today on its Playstation Direct store that doesn’t guarantee a Playstation 5, but gives the vague promise of having the chance to get one. A “preorder for a preorder,” basically. If you are selected, you will eventually be sent an E-mail from Sony containing a link to the product, and the time limit for your chance to preorder the following (note that you don’t have to take ALL these items): 1 PS5 Console or 1 PS5 Digital Edition 2 DualSense wireless controllers 2 DualSense charging stations 2 Pulse 3D wireless headsets 2 Media remotes 2 HD Cameras Not everyone who signs up will be given the chance, and it doesn’t appear to be a random drawing either. The most perplexing part of the FAQ is the explanation for Sony’s selection criteria: it’s
Netflix’s Altered Carbon Cancelled After Two Seasons
Unless your show starts with the word “Stranger” and ends with “Things,” you’re never truly safe at Netflix. The axe-wielding streamer has just announced the sudden cancellation of their sci-fi drama Altered Carbon, after a lot of hype and hopes that it would become their next mature-audience hit. Altered Carbon was a story set in a future cyberpunk dystopia where money literally means life. Technology has advanced to the point where human brains can be stored as data and transferred into a new host, thereby extending the participating party’s life indefinitely. Since it’s an expensive procedure, it’s a privilege only enjoyed by the wealthy…or the friends of the wealthy, in the case of Takeshi Kovacs, the resurrected soldier and focus of the short-lived show. Some of Netflix’s most recent cancellations have been due to the COVID-19 shutdown, like The Society. But they claim a different reason for this one: the expense of all the CGI work and special effects was too much to cover the cost of making it. As
The Flashback Interview: Sandy Helberg
My first exposure to my newest interview subject, Sandy Helberg, came through the movie Spaceballs, where he memorably played the character of Dr. Schlotkin, the plastic surgeon who was going to give Princess Vespa (Daphne Zuniga) her old nose back if King Roland (Dick Van Patten) didn’t turn over the key to the air lock. As I grew older, I came to see that Sandy Helberg was an incredible talent as both an actor and a writer. Through the help of Kim Hopkins, my dear friend and former interview subject who also connected me to Stuart Pankin, I spoke with Sandy on Monday, August 17th, and I hope you all enjoy getting to know this great talent. Say hello to Sandy Helberg! Sandy: Hello? Johnny: Hi, Sandy. Johnny Caps here. Sandy: How are you? Johnny: I’m doing good. First of all, thank you for taking the time to speak to me. Sandy: No problem. Johnny: Alright. I have my questions ready to go, starting with this: You’re one of the
Deck Of Wonders Launches Kickstarter Campaign
Cincinnati-based Furia Games has announced the crowdfunding campaign is now open for their solo card-battling game, Deck Of Wonders. Fate is a powerful mistress, but what’s the source of that power? Maybe it’s the deck of cards she keeps with her at all times, as her most prized possession. Actually, today is one of those rare days Fate doesn’t have her cards….because you stole them! Boy, is Fate mad. She’s sent her friends to retrieve the Deck from you, and the only way to save yourself will be to use it against them. Along the way, you’ll meet other individuals who don’t happen to be powerful agents of Fate, but heard you have her cards and would like to swipe them from you. You’re the most popular person around! Deck of Wonders is meant as a solitary card game, but there is support for two-player co-op gameplay. To fend off foes like Cullin the Spoiled Prince, Aurora the Empath and others, draw your cards. Each card will contain a unique
The Sinking City Sinks Off The Digital Marketplace
We wrote quite a few newspieces on The Sinking City, the Lovecraftian detective game from Frogwares Studios and what was then called Bigben Interactive. The game’s publisher has since changed its name to NACON, and is now under fire from Frogwares, being accused of a breach of contract among other things. Caught in the middle: the game, which has been removed from most digital markets. Frogwares published an open letter on their website which states their agreement with NACON guaranteed a share of the profits as well as ownership of the game itself and all IP therein. Though NACON gave Frogwares those payments at first, they were usually late, and at some cases were only produced upon formal notice. Then, suddenly, NACON demanded The Sinking City’s source code for some reason, something they had no legal access to (they could sell the game, but not own it). Frogwares refused to hand over the code, so NACON stopped paying them. That decision launched a legal battle that has been going on

Monster Hunter World Board Game Announced
Steamforged Games is the world-famous translator of video games into tabletop versions…previous products of theirs include board games based on Dark Souls, Resident Evil 2, Horizon Zero Dawn and Devil May Cry. Next year, you’ll be able to add Monster Hunter World to the list….the board game was announced this morning. Mat Hart, co-founder of Steamforged, admitted in a Polygon interview that turning Monster Hunter World into a board game will be one of the more challenging projects they’ve taken on. “Monster Hunter is very open-ended,” he said. “You can play it for forever and a day. And and we know that in a board game, that’s not going to work. There’s no sense of peril, there’s no sense of threat, You need a timer or you need a threat to kind of give a sense of value to the actions that you’re doing. Otherwise it becomes a bit of a grind.” The obvious solution was a device other board games that wish to create tension have used: a timer.

The film is directed by Patty Jenkins again and her being an actual fan of Wonder Woman helped the first movie that’s why it resonates well with the comic-book fans and casual fans of the Linda Carter TV show alike. Gal Gadot and Chris Pine reprise their roles as

Max Considers Removing Looney Tunes, Then Backtracks
Another week, another PR nightmare for Warner Bros of their own making. The studio’s streaming service, Max, has released its list of titles coming in December and leaving before the New Year. There are a lot of good things on that list that have no guarantee of showing up anywhere else, but what leapt out to people was the mention that Looney Tunes was leaving. The whole thing. Max pared down its library of Looney Tunes shorts when CEO David Zaslav first took control, but did not dare to get rid of them completely. This time, they did. The reaction was swift and overwhelmingly negative, with demands that WB reverse course on erasing some of the best material in its own history. And it looks like the company gave in: a revised list was issued a day later that does not mention Looney Tunes in the “leaving” list. It hasn’t been that long since the Coyote Vs Acme debacle, which played out earlier this month in exactly this fashion. We
BIT.TRIP Rerunner Adds Music Maker
BIT.TRIP Rerunner introduces new Music Maker feature, allowing players to create their own songs for the levels they create. Earlier this year, BIT.TRIP Rerunner was launched on Steam: a new version of the classic endless runner rhythm game. It not only included many new levels but the feature “Runner Maker” — a level creation editor that let anyone make their own BIT.TRIP levels and share them. Said levels were limited to the music tracks preinstalled to the game, however. That’s no longer a problem! With its latest update, Rerunner is introducing the “Music Maker” feature. You’ll be able to construct your own songs for your levels, and test them out in real time to make sure the bounces line up correctly. “It is now possible for virtually anyone in the BIT.TRIP RERUNNER community to not only create custom levels, but also add wholly original music beautifully integrated to the gameplay itself,” brags developer Choice Provisions. “Music Maker” is just part of a new update to the game that also adds
