“Enlighten Up!” DVD Review
Documentaries have always been big business for film festivals and independent movie theaters, but rarely have they had such a presence on DVD lately as they have from documramafilms. In the past couple months alone they’ve pounded out several award winning documentaries that had previously only been seen by a few in local theaters and, very rarely, on television/PBS airings. Now, docuramafilms is bringing to DVD the Kate Churchill documentary Enlighten Up!. The film focuses on the exciting world of…yoga? Yes, while the film has its critics (many of them yoga practitioners), it has still drawn quite a bit of attention due to its polarizing depictions of the various yoga cultures. SynopsisFilmmaker Kate Churchill is determined to prove that yoga can transform anyone. Nick Rosen is skeptical but agrees to be her guinea pig. Kate immerses Nick in the practice and follows him around the world as he examines the good, the bad and the ugly of yoga. The two encounter celebrity yogis, true believers, kooks and world-renowned gurus. Tensions
“Bones – Season 4 (Body Bag Edition)” DVD Review
Certain shows seem to only grow in quality over time. The number is few, of course, because no show is immune to the eventual wearing down, even if it starts out strong. In Bones case, the show started out a little rough and breezed long through three additional seasons effortlessly. The shows mixture of humor, drama, and superb character interactions are what keeps it so alive and fresh feeling. With this seasons rotating list of lab attendants to help replace Eric Millegan’s character who got written out of the show (although he does make a rather surprise appearance here in the fourth season), the show managed to stay as fresh as ever…up until it’s lackluster finale, at least. SynopsisTemperance Brennan is a highly skilled forensic anthropologist in Washington, DC. FBI Agent Seeley Booth calls on her to assist with investigations when the standard methods of identifying a body are useless – when the remains are badly decomposed, burned or destroyed beyond recognition. As upsetting as last season’s finale was, those

“The Spectacular Spider-Man – Volume Five” DVD Review
Presenting arguably the best animated interpretation of Spider-Man to date, Sony Home Entertainment brings us the fifth single-disc volume release of The Spectacular Spider-Man and, like the previous releases collecting the first season, it reminds us why this series is arguably the best animated interpretation of the web-slinger to date as the show heads into its second. The series manages to stay true to the core of each character while presenting fresh spins on familiar situations and stories. The Spectacular Spider-Man: Volume Five brings us the first arc for the second season of this amazing animated series, introducing new enemies and deepening the many long-term mysteries that already plagues our Web-slinging Hero. Well, let’s get that pesky synopsis out of the way and dig a little deeper! Synopsis:With the holidays fast approaching, Peter Parker finds himself distracted while focusing on the lighter side of life; girls, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve celebrations. But Peter’s holiday plans are about to get blown away by a tsunami of chaos, destruction and crime.
“Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs” Blu-ray Review
Ice Age has never been a series loaded with originality. Nor was it one particularly well received by critics (with each installment of the series the reviews get gradually worse). So when it came time for third (and supposed final) installment of the series, logic dictates that it do the worst. Well logic clearly can’t dictate worth crap in this case as Dawn of the Dinosaurs went on to gross $878 million worldwide, making it the second highest grossing animated film of all time and the third highest grossing international film of all time. And this is for the third installment in the series, mind you, that came out nearly ten years after the first one originally debuted. I’m more impressed by what this film accomplished than I am with the animation contained within it. SynopsisIn the coolest Ice Age adventure yet, Manny and the herd discover a lost world of ferociously funny dinosaurs, including a cranky T. rex who’s got a score to settle with Sid! Meanwhile, Scrat goes
“An Evening of Rhythm Romance” Blu-ray Review
With global album sales in excess of 50 million copies, Grammy-Award winning saxophonist Kenny G is all set to break new ground. ‘An Evening Of Rhythm & Romance’, his first ever performance to be released in the Blu-ray format, is due out early next month when, simultaneously, it will also be available on DVD. Synopsis¬¬‘An Evening of Rhythm & Romance’ was filmed late in 2008 at the wonderfully atmospheric Humphreys By The Bay in San Diego when Kenny was in town as part of an extensive tour to promote his most recent studio album, ‘Rhythm & Romance’. Among the sixteen choice cuts are the Kenny G classics ‘Havana’ and ‘G-Bop’ while unsurprisingly there is also a place for his signature number ‘Songbird’. Cover versions of James Blunt’s ‘You’re Beautiful’, Louis Armstrong’s ‘What A Wonderful World’ and the Average White Band’s ‘Pick Up The Pieces’ complete the set in his inimitable, relaxed, and intimate style. Growing up my parents listened to Kenny G occasionally, but he was always a source of
“Ruby Spears Superman” DVD Review
DC animation has been slowly trickling onto DVD over the past few years and the whole time fans were wondering when the fabled 1988 Ruby-Spears Superman show would ever see the light of day. With the DC well running dry, however, Warner Home Video eventually scraped the bottom of the barrel…which is apparently where this series was located. Sure there are other DC shows that haven’t seen DVD yet (or lately, at least), but to hold back a Superman series for so long left fans baffled. Synopsis As a 50th anniversary gift, DC Comics legendary Man of Steel got a brand-new Saturday morning cartoon. Produced by Ruby-Spears, this new Superman series brought back a few familiar foes, along with new unfriendly faces, for weekly battles and a peek into the private life of the man with the S on his chest. The final four minutes of each Superman episode were devoted to a brief snapshot from the Superman Family Album. These biographical segments showed the kids at home what it
“Bela Fleck: Throw Down Your Heart” DVD Review
Documentaries have always been big business for film festivals and independent movie theaters, but rarely have they had such a presence on DVD lately as they have from documramafilms. In the past couple months alone they’ve pounded out several award winning documentaries that had previously only been seen by a few in local theaters and, very rarely, on television/PBS airings. Now, docuramafilms is bringing to DVD the Béla Fleck documentary Throw Down Your Heart, which has already accumulated several awards and nominations over various film festivals. Now those unable to see the film in its limited theatrical runs can now witness the inspiring documentary for themselves. Synopsis“Throw Down Your Heart” follows American banjo virtuoso Béla Fleck on his journey to Africa to explore the little known African roots of the banjo and record an album. Béla’s boundary-breaking musical adventure takes him to Uganda, Tanzania, The Gambia, and Mali, and provides a glimpse of the beauty and complexity of Africa. Using his banjo, Béla transcends barriers of language and culture, finding
“Home Alone 2: Lost in New York” Blu-ray Review
The year was 1992. The setting was New York City and the time of year was a snow laden Christmas. It saw the return of Macaulay Culkin as the precocious Kevin McCallister and how his family once again forgot (well…this time they just lost him) him for their annual Christmas vacation. As unlikely as the premise and scenario is, the film went on to enjoy a healthy box office life and it only further bolstered the career of the then unstoppable Culkin. For all intents and purposes the film was a giant cash-in on the first film and had a remarkable amount of product placement…but Fox at least had enough sense to stop at this second film. Until 1997 at least when they made a direct-to-video third film. And again in 2002. SynopsisKevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin) is back! But this time he’s in New York City with enough cash and credit cards to turn the Big Apple into his own playground! But Kevin won’t be alone for long. The notorious
“Wrong Turn 3: Left for Dead” Blu-ray Review
Apparently Fox has more faith in this series than its fans do, as the third installment in the series is undoubtedly its worst. It was also shot overseas with a low budget, helmed by a SyFy channel movie director and employed by some mediocre actors. How does this differ from the previous films, you ask? Well I guess it doesn’t really, but damn if it isn’t really noticeable this time around. I mean this film is simply embarrassing to watch as it puts itself through all of the predictable and cliché horror film paces, with breasts, gore, and dismemberment occurring so early into the film you wonder if there’s anything to stick around for. And guess what? There isn’t. SynopsisThree times the fear… three times the horror… three times the terror! Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment presents another frightening addition to the Wrong Turn franchise, when the unrated massacre Wrong Turn 3: Left For Dead is unleashed exclusively on Blu-ray Disc (BD) and DVD October 20. Three Finger and his
Daredevil Will Return In New Disney+ Series
They’ve been hinting at it, but today they made it official. Marvel has announced a new Daredevil series is coming to Disney+ at an unspecified time. They didn’t say who was playing, but it’s a bit obvious. Charlie Cox played the Man Without Fear in the 2015 Netflix series, and after the rights reverted to Disney, he showed up as Murdock again in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Vincent D’Onofrio was Kingpin in that series, and he came back in the same role on the Hawkeye series. So there’s little doubt it will be those guys once more. The question is…in what form? Will this new Daredevil series be a continuation of the Netflix series, or will it establish its own continuity? If it’s the latter, it could get messy, as the Netflix show was meant to take place in the MCU even if it wasn’t allowed to explicitly use Avengers characters. If it’s the former, there’s no way Disney+ will let it get as gritty as the first show was
Project W: Albert Wesker is coming to Dead By Daylight!
Project W is the continuation of Behavior Interactive collaboration with Capcom. It is going to be the extension of the Resident Evil Chapter. Yes Nemesis is the most iconic monster of the Resident Evil franchise but Albert Wesker is the most Iconic Resident Evil Antagonist. For Sure Lady Dimitrescu is more popular these days but Albert Wesker is the only Resident Evil villain who appeared in more than one game. Project W’s Killer is going to Albert Wesker! Most Resident Evil villains dies on the game where they debuted but Albert Wesker appeared in multiple games. That includes remakes and Crossover Games. Though Resident Evil is a Horror franchise, Wesker is more of a Super Villain than a Horror villain. Here he is teaming up with Marvel Super Villains in Marvel vs Capcom 3. Albert Wesker is a trained soldier with Superhuman abilities, he is also arrogant and he talks a lot. He might get special interactions with Survivor Players who will play as Jill and the Redfield Siblings
