Celebrate independence with the new Assassin’s Creed III trailer
For freedom to rise, the oppressor must fall. Blood will be shed, sacrifices will be made, but the idea we all fight for will live on forever. This is the message intrinsic to Ubisoft’s ‘Rise’ trailer for Assassin’s Creed III, released in honour of Independence Day.
Google Nexus 7 Tablet Review: Not For Me, But Maybe For You
Allow me to start by saying I know I am painfully lucky to have my geeky hands on this device. Getting tickets to Google IO took staying up all night, and even they sold out in a mere 5 minutes, in spite of doubling the price for attendance. Yet, personally, I’ve never really had much love for the 7 inch form factor, especially when paired with an LED screen and no keyboard. I mean, as it stands, tablets aren’t the greatest productivity devices. Multitasking is messy, and until Windows 8 hits, most tablets will be running operating systems that basically need to login into a desktop machine to do any serious work. 7 inch tablets take the screen size down to difficult-to-use levels, especially since a significant portion of your screen is further lost to an on screen keyboard. This is probably why my daily driver is an Asus Transformer. I get all the tablety fun, but with a great battery and more importantly, a physical keyboard with great connectivity
Things That Drive Nerds Crazy: Malls
Remember how trips to the mall were so mindblowing when you were a kid? Now they’re not so exciting. What happened? What happened was that all the stores containing things you were into vanished. The toy stores are gone, sure enough, but so are the gadget sellers. An electronics store is the nerd equivalent of a hardware store for “normals.” Even if you don’t have any money, you can walk inside and just be entertained by all the cool gadgets on display. It’s getting harder and harder to have this experience, and I hate that. Music stores are dead and never coming back. Franchises that specialize in home video have all but flatlined — you can’t rent them unless you use a vending machine, and specialty shops like Suncoast that carry rare titles can’t offer discounts like Wal-Mart and are disappearing too. The economy shuttered Circuit City, which was going south as it was with bad service and support. Now Best Buy has the big box monopoly (unless you have
E3 Post-Mortem: Sony
Sony had the most solid showing of the platform makers at E3. Microsoft focused on the Xbox as media device, while skimping on the game content. Sony, meanwhile, kept its eye on the games, and though the show featured some bewildering missteps, it opened and closed extremely strong. For many, the story of the show was… Ellen Page. Naughty Dog’s highly anticipated The Last of Us is centered around a 14 year old girl named Ellie that bore a distinctive resemblance to the “Juno” actress. Her design was slightly changed before E3, when it was revealed that Heavy Rain developer was behind a new game called Beyond: Two Souls… where you are actually playing as Ellen Page thanks to performance capture (the same as was behind Avatar). Beyond seemed much further behind in its development process than Last of Us, but the extensive teaser hints at a moody, tension-filled action game where Page’s character has a connection with a powerful, destructive poltergeist and is constantly on the run from federal

A Black Panther 2 Script Exists Where T’Challa Returns
As you most likely know, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will fully lean into the fact that the actor who played the Panther in the first movie, Chadwick Boseman, is no longer with us. But back when the news of Boseman’s death first hit, no one knew how Marvel would handle it, and a lot of fans were hoping T’Challa would be recast. There was never a consideration to do so, but if there had been, there was a script ready to go. Ryan Coogler, the writer and director behind both the original Black Panther and its sequel, revealed to THR that he’d already written the script for Black Panther 2 prior to Baseman’s passing, and had to completely rewrite it afterward. “The script we wrote before Chadwick passed was very much rooted in T’Challa’s perspective,” he said. “It was a massive movie but also simultaneously a character study that delved deeply into his psyche and situation.” What Coogler doesn’t say is what KIND of situation. Was Namor in this version
The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself
The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself is coming to Netflix. This fantasy series is an adaptation of Half Bad by Sally Green. More languages have been translated into this book than any other book, including children’s books, setting two records in the Guinness Book of World Records. Young Adult novels nearly never have successful box office runs in the movies, but they often have successful TV adaptations. This is due to the fact that an episodic structure makes it easier to flesh out the lore. Set in a modern version of Europe, witches and common people cohabit in the story’s parallel past. In the mythology of the story, there are two different types of witches: Black Witches and White Witches. In contrast to White Witches, who are viewed as the good ones, Black Witches, who are frequently viewed as evil. The reason is because practice dark magic. The main character is identified as being of Caucasian descent in the book; yet, she is depicted as having mixed racial heritage
