Oxygen -the horrors of Clausthrophobic horror coming to Netflix
Oxygen’s trailer just got dropped the official Youtube channel of Netflix, finally.
Oxygène aka Oxygen is a futuristic French horror coming to Netflix. This film possesses a fresh concept that tackles Claustrophobia. In a recent study, 12.5% of American adults suffer from Claustrophobia. Some people who have this condition get stressed out by the enclosed space, While others have complete panic attack episodes. This movie will be close to home to people who experience the same fear. Imagine yourself in the same situation of the poor protagonist. This film in a way reminds me of the 90s thriller buried a life but with a science fiction twist.
Something is suffocating about being in a tight space where you can barely move. According to some studies, most claustrophobics have this fear because of childhood trauma hence the fear of small spaces. Discomfort and depleting air supply can take a toll on your sanity.
Mélanie Laurent plays the role of a woman who wakes up in a nightmare scenario. She suffers from amnesia and doesn’t remember anything about herself. Why is she inside that enclosure? Whatever the reason is, she needs to figure out how to get out or she will die of oxygen depletion.
Additionally, her situation got worse because she wakes up inside a cryogenic chamber. The A.I of the chamber named M.I.L.O told her that she have 90 minutes to live if she won’t unlock her chamber. It will be easy if she remembers those information but she had an Amnesia. That makes it difficult for her to escape because she doesn’t remember anything. She doesn’t even know why is she inside there and her identity neither.
Her time is running out and she needs to figure out how to get out of the cryogenic chamber. Is she going to survive?
