Overlord: Fellowship of Evil Announced
After seeing a teaser that the Overlord series was coming back, Codemasters has officially unveiled the new game, which will be titled Overlord: Fellowship of Evil. You can check out the official announcement trailer below.
This go round though, you won’t be playing as a singular Overlord (who actually died in the second game). Instead, you’ll have the ability to play as one of four Netherghūls. For those who don’t know, those are servants of the dark arts, who want nothing more than to reclaim the world that has been “righted” by the forces of good.
The game will feature local co-op as well as online co-op. And yes, you’ll be able to conspire and hurt your teammates as well as “help” them.
If you’re fearing that this may be too much of a divergence from the game, don’t worry, a bunch of the original Overlord team is coming back to helm this one; including Rhianna Prachett, who penned the original Overlord games.
“Finally, the secret dark rituals have paid off!” says Pratchett. “I’m often asked if there’ll be another Overlord game, so it’s wonderful to be back in black helping to create a new carnage-filled evil ride. This is one game franchise which has been as fun to develop as it is to play, and Fellowship of Evil is no exception. And don’t worry, there will be sheepies. We have plans for them. Oh yes!”
Codemasters executive producer Rob Elser is also excited for the game, stating: “We really wanted to do something that would allow us be evil alongside our friends, instead of the normal heroics in every other game. The idea of playing as a team of bad guys commanding Minions to do our utmost bidding, while also causing chaos for each other, just really made us smile. And as you know, an Overlord game never takes itself too seriously.”
